When formulated into extrusion PVC compounds, coated precipitated calcium carbonate improves gelation and surface finish and impact resistance. Reversion is minimised and profiles are assisted in retaining their mechanical properties under weathering conditions. CPCC is a unique additive which can acts as a processing aid as well as impact modifier without any adverse effects that can be normally experienced i.e. high melt viscosity/die swell and poor reversion values when using conventional additives. These products modify the physical properties of the . CPCC used to replace the natural calcium carbonate in the formulation will improve all the processing properties and allow reduction in impact modifier and process aid levels. The surface finish of extruded products improved by using CPCC which results a high gloss, high integrity surface finish without the need for additional effort . Hicaloxol is used in applications where excessive moisture in the rubber compound during the curing process can lead to porosity and irregular physical characteristics in the finished article. Due to the high temperatures required for the vulcanisation process, water starts to boil and blisters can form in the rubber. Hicaloxol is typically used in low pressure curing processes, such as those used to produce, automotive door seals and window seals.
In some plastics, such as PVC, high processing temperatures can also result in blistering. Also some plastics materials contain moisture sensitive ingredients that need to be protected . In such situation Hicaloxol is used as an ideal desiccant .
In Sealant and adhesive application Hicaloxol is used as desiccant . It protects the final product from blister formation at the end application .
In Glass Fiber manufacturing total CaO content is around 18 – 20 % . Hicaloxol being the purest of CaO is an ideal ingredient for this purpose .
